Participate in a byzantine icon painting workshop with the Greek iconographer Babis Pilarinos in France at the lovely village of Grez sur Loing one hour at the south of Paris. The workshop is conducted with egg tempera, Byzantine tetrachrome (four-color) palette with in-depth instruction in drawing, and gold leaves in the same traditional way as was the case in the Byzantine times. This workshop is a good and for beginning students or more advanced as Babis Pilarinos skillfully individualizes instruction based on each student’s experience and ability.
In this workshop, the person that participates will paint an icon using paints made from egg yolk and colour powders and will gild the icon with gold leaves (22k). At the end of the workshop the member will have completed the icon.
These workshop is suitable for people with no previous experience in painting, as well as for amateur or professional painters who wish to study the byzantine art genre.
Lesson is stand-alone, which means that during the course, each participant is given the opportunity to complete an icon fully.
Everything needed – canvases, brushes, colors, gold leaves etc.- are provided by the atelier. The Workshop lesson is in English.
The cost for the workshop is 90€ for one person. The price includes total 10 hours (6 hours per day) of workshop (two days workshop Saturday 26 September, 14:00-20:00, and Sunday 27 September 2020 10:00-16:00) and all necessary material (not need to bring anything).
